President and Chief Executive Officier of INESSS

Image Dr. Juan Roberto Iglesias, the president and chief executive officer at INESSS, holds a medical degree from the Université de Sherbrooke and a master’s degree in science (cellular biology). He pursued his postdoctoral studies in epidemiology at McGill University. From 2006 to 2011, he served as president and chief executive officer at AETMIS, which is now known as INESSS.

Dr. Iglesias has acquired extensive experience in the health and social services system and in public administration. His previous positions include assistant deputy minister for cross-sectoral coordination (1989–1993) and deputy minister of health and social services (2003–2006). He served as the chair of the Conseil médical du Québec and as the assistant dean of clinical sciences for the Université de Sherbrooke’s Faculty of Medicine, prior to which he held a full professorship at the Université de Sherbrooke and practised family medicine at the Farnham CLSC. Dr. Iglesias also played an active role in the committee charged with establishing INESSS.
